The Spiced Pumpkin Painkiller is the holiday cocktail of our dreams, available at both Three Sixty locations in St. Louis.

The Spiced Pumpkin Painkiller is the holiday cocktail of our dreams, and you can get it at both the original Three Sixty in downtown St. Louis and the newer Three Sixty Westport in Maryland Heights. Created by Tim Wiggins of Bangers Only cocktail consulting company, this isn’t your typical overly sweet, over-spiced seasonal drink: It’s strong, balanced and surprisingly nuanced. Dark rum anchors the cocktail, while pumpkin spice, coconut cream, orange, ginger, lime and a little streusel come together in a mix that’s perfectly complex and delightfully delicious.

Both locations are running their Up on the Rooftop holiday pop-ups through the entire month, and you don’t need a reservation to get in on the fun. We tend to gravitate toward the Westport spot for the overall vibe, but the cocktail list is identical at both. And if you’re chasing views, the downtown rooftop is hard to beat with 360-degree panoramas that sweep over the Arch, Busch Stadium and Kiener Plaza. Both locations offer open seating, but reservations are available for groups of 10 or more.

4 Hands Brewing Co. brings Cocktails and Claws holiday pop-up to Kirkwood https://www.saucemagazine.com/events/4-hands-brewing-co-brings-cocktails-claws-holiday-pop-up-to-kirkwood/ Thu, 04 Dec 2025 18:32:20 +0000 https://www.saucemagazine.com/?p=47969

4 Hands Brewing Co.’s first ever holiday pop-up, Cocktails and Claws, is now open in the 4 Hands + Peacemaker Lobster & Crab Co. space in Kirkwood.

Downtown Kirkwood is getting into the holiday spirit. 4 Hands Brewing Co.’s first ever holiday pop-up, Cocktails and Claws, is now open in the 4 Hands + Peacemaker Lobster & Crab Co. space at 150 W. Argonne Drive in Kirkwood, where customers can pair local brews with lobster, poorboys and more.

The two businesses have been planning their collaborative event since June, and the effort shows in their specialty menus created for the pop-up. The cocktail list from 4 Hands focuses on showing off their portfolio of spirits as well as guest experience. The Resting Grinch Face is one of owner Kevin Lemp’s favorites, made up of 1220 Spirits’ Encrypted Vodka, plus white cranberry, triple sec, simple syrup and lime juice. Upon ordering, a server comes to the table with the drink in one hand and green cotton candy in the other. Guests watch as the cotton candy dissolves in the cocktail, transforming it into something perfect for the Mean One himself. Withered Oak’s rye is a substantial component of the cocktail menu, making appearances in Max on the Rocks (a One Antler Old-Fashioned), the caramel apple-inspired Sugar & Spice and the Midnight Noel, which also features amaro, plus chocolate and toasted almond bitters.

“We like to stay in our lane and really just focus on beverage,” Lemp said. “We really just trust our partner.” That partner is the team at Kevin Nashan’s Peacemaker, which designed the appetizer menu for Cocktails and Claws. While the regular Peacemaker menu is also available, the unique appetizer choices offer elevated comfort. First on the list is an order of crab claws, delivered to the table on ice with lemon and house-made Dijonnaise. The deviled eggs come topped with caviar, and the pigs in a blanket are swaddled in a garlic-Parmesan buttered bao bun. Crab cakes and Swedish meatballs round out the menu, along with a turtle brownie sundae for dessert.

Of all the 4 Hands’ locations, Lemp felt Kirkwood was the perfect spot for their first holiday pop-up. “We’re really a part of the neighborhood of Kirkwood,” he said. “We just felt like the  community would get a kick out of a big pop-up, and so we decided to just roll the dice and try it this year and see how it went.” The encroaching wintertime gives the team a chance to show off what the inside of the property can deliver. While the location has plenty of outdoor seating, popular in the warmer months, Cocktails and Claws takes place purely inside. The dining area is decked out in red and white, and guests have a perfect view of a City Wide holiday tree. “As soon as the customers walk in, we just wanted it to be explosive for them.”

For the rest of the pop-up, which runs through Dec. 31, guests can expect eventual additions to the menu, including NA cocktails. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will join the fun on Dec. 7 for a free event full of photo opportunities, games and treats meant for the whole family. A portion of sales on Kirkwood Lager will go to Kirkwood Firefighters Community Outreach. “We just want people to come in here and be reminded of the giving season,” Lemp said. “At the end of the day, everything we do is about connection.” Cocktails and Claws is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, no reservations or tickets required.

Mill Creek Valley was once a thriving, predominantly Black neighborhood in Midtown St. Louis, rich in culture, innovation and enterprise. However, in the 1950s, Mill Creek was devastated by urban renewal projects that displaced families and dismantled an entire community. Join the Missouri History Museum for the opening of Mill Creek: Black Metropolis on Nov. 15 and explore the powerful legacy of this historic neighborhood. Discover the stories of iconic figures like Josephine Baker, who grew up there; Annie Malone and Madam C.J. Walker, who launched their groundbreaking hair care businesses; St. Paul AME, the birthplace of the St. Louis NAACP chapter and the unforgettable music of Scott Joplin, Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington, whose sounds once echoed through its streets.

Pierce Creek is adding a new experience to its dinner lineup this fall. Beginning Nov. 7, the restaurant’s newly appointed butcher, Greg May, will host The Butcher’s Cut Fridays, a weekly dining experience spotlighting hand-selected steaks and chef-driven technique.

Each Friday evening, May will stay late behind the counter, choosing the finest cuts straight from the Pierce Creek case – rib-eyes, strips, filets and occasionally something unexpected. Guests can select their steak directly from the butcher’s counter before it’s prepared to order and paired with a choice of house-made sauces. Quantities are limited, and once the cuts are gone, they’re gone.

“It’s a chance to explore different types of cuts, cooking styles and preparation methods,” said May. “We want guests to see the craft up close and taste the difference that comes from care and quality.”

Dinner service launches Friday, Nov. 7, from 5 to 8 p.m., with happy hour running 3 to 6 p.m. Following the debut, Pierce Creek will offer dinner Tuesday through Saturday, with The Butcher’s Cut featured exclusively on Fridays. The menu will include familiar lunch favorites alongside weekly chef’s specials.

Co-owner Rachelle L’Ecuyer said the new program celebrates the heart of Pierce Creek’s mission. “Having our own butcher shop lets customers see exactly what they’re buying and understand where it comes from,” she says. “Our beef is pasture-raised on Missouri grasses and spring water – no hormones, no unnecessary antibiotics, no feedlots. The Butcher’s Cut Fridays will give people a true farm-to-table experience.”

May brings a deep respect for that philosophy. Raised in a small farming community in northwest Pennsylvania, he grew up helping his family care for cows, pigs and chickens, and credits his grandmothers’ home cooking for sparking his love of food. Before joining Pierce Creek, May served as executive chef at Pastaria in Clayton, part of Gerard Craft’s Niche Food Group, where he developed a strong appreciation for locally sourced, high-quality ingredients.

At Pierce Creek, he’s eager to share that passion directly with guests, whether through a perfect steak or a simple conversation about how they plan to cook it at home.

Several local businesses have joined forces for a heartfelt cause on Friday, Nov. 7, as The Wine Merchant, Café Napoli and Pinnacle Imports host Nora’s Sparkle of Love Project’s Wine & Spirit Tasting and fundraising event honoring the memory of 7-year-old Nora Bunn. The event will take place from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Wine Merchant located at 9200 Olive Blvd. in Olivette, with all proceeds going to support pediatric brain tumor research and families affected by childhood brain cancer.

Nora Bunn bravely battled DIPG Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a rare and aggressive form of pediatric brain cancer, before passing away at age 7. In response to their daughter’s diagnosis and fight, Nora’s parents, Brent and Jani Bunn, launched Nora’s Sparkle of Love Project to raise funds for research into better detection, treatments, and a cure. The project also aims to provide resources and support for other families facing similar challenges.

In honor of Nora, her family partnered with Limerick Lane Winery, The Wine Merchant’s Jason Main, Café Napoli’s Ande Pietoso, and Pinnacle Imports’ Bill Kniep to create a special wine, a 2023 Limerick Lane Cellars Cuvée Nora Belle Zinfandel, Russian River Valley. With a “purpose with every pour,” the elegant and layered Zinfandel is composed of rich notes of blackberry, cherry, raspberry, cracked pepper, and spice. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample and purchase the wine at the event.

The $150 general admission ticket includes tastings of more than 20 rare wines from regions including Champagne, Burgundy, Napa and Sonoma, as well as a curated whiskey tasting featuring a private barrel of Four Roses Bourbon and a hand-selected Scotch. Attendees will also enjoy gourmet bites catered by Café Napoli, access to a live auction, and a limited-edition Sparkle of Love wine glass.

Optional VIP add-ons include a $150 rare wine tasting experience and a $125 rare whiskey tasting featuring a 1-ounce pour of vintage of an Old Forester Bourbon from 1950. VIP whiskey guests will receive a limited-edition Nora’s Sparkle of Love Glencairn tasting glass. A general admission ticket is required for all VIP add-ons.

Support is also welcomed through direct donations to the Sparkle of Love Project or by purchasing bottles of the Cuvée Nora Belle Zinfandel wine. The evening promises fine wine, community spirit and meaningful purpose all in support of Nora’s legacy and the fight against childhood cancer. Purchase your tickets here.

The Delmar Maker District is gearing up for its second annual Delish on Delmar festival: a lively celebration of food, art and community resilience taking place Friday, Oct. 17, from 5 to 10 p.m.

What began as a showcase for the district’s growing culinary and creative scene now carries special meaning. Earlier this year, an EF3 tornado tore through the area, leaving behind significant damage. This fall’s festival stands as a symbol of the neighborhood’s recovery and determination to rebuild stronger than ever.

“Delish on Delmar is more than just a fun night out – it’s a celebration of what’s possible when we’re all in for St. Louis,” said Maxine Clark, founder of Delmar DivINe and Build-A-Bear Workshop, and board member of Delmar Main Street. “It’s an introduction to the economic expansion happening in the new Delmar Maker District and a way for everyone to see the positive changes that have been made since the storm.”

Stretching along Delmar Boulevard between Union and Kingshighway boulevards, the block party-style event will feature dishes and drinks from some of the city’s most acclaimed restaurants and eateries, including Nixta, Esca, Florentin, Deli Divine, AO&Co, Fountain on Delmar, Steve’s Hot Dogs, Too Much Sauce, and Cellar Cigar Lounge. Food trucks such as Guys with the Fries, Honey Bee Tea, and Crooked Boot will also join the mix.

Live music will fill the street from 5 to 9:30 p.m., with performances by Anita Jackson from 5-6 p.m., Groove Junkies from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and the Fabulous Motown Revue from 8-9:30 p.m. The festival will also host a Makers Market highlighting local vendors and artists, coinciding with Third Degree Glass Factory’s Third Friday 23rd anniversary celebration, honoring one of the district’s original anchors.

Delmar Boulevard will be closed between Academy and Lake avenues for the event. Admission is free, and attendees are encouraged to register for updates at delishondelmar.com.

Major sponsors include Ameren, U.S. Bank, WashU, Edward Jones, Gershman Investment Corp, Advantage Capital, St. Louis Community Credit Union, Clark-Fox Family Foundation, Clayco, and CI Select, with partners such as Delmar DivINe, Delmar Main Street, Delmar Maker District, and Third Degree Glass.
