La Patisserie Chouquette chef-owner Simone Faure brings a New Orleans holiday tradition, \u201cR\u00e9veillon\u201d (French for \u201cawakening\u201d), to her beloved pastry shop in the Shaw neighborhood. In New Orleans, the R\u00e9veillon tradition originated with families returning home after midnight Mass on Christmas Eve to enjoy a late-night feast together. Faure recreates that spirit of celebration with an exquisite spread featuring petite crawfish pies, white chocolate macarons, braised short rib and goat cheese crostini, eggnog panna cotta, tomato and caramelized onion tarts and more, all thoughtfully paired with loose-leaf tea. The Feast of Seven Fishes<\/strong>
The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis\u2019 elevated Italian restaurant, Casa Don Alfonso, will celebrate its first Feast of the Seven Fishes (La Vigilia), an Italian-American Christmas Eve tradition featuring fish and seafood. Typically, the feast includes seven different seafood dishes or one or two types of fish prepared in seven distinct ways, and the abundance of seafood reflects the observance of abstinence from meat until the feast of Christmas Day. From Dec. 16-23, Casa Don Alfonso will offer a special seven-course seafood menu during dinner service for $150 per person, plus tax. Reservations are available through OpenTable.
